One of the most important roles Shomrim plays is in locating missing people. In the UK an estimated 250,000 people go missing every year and, realistically, the police only have the resources to track down a minority. Shomrim are familiar with every inch of the local area and can put dozens of volunteers on the street to perform a full sweep, finding missing people before they come to harm. In addition, we are able to use our channels of communication to put out missing people notices in order to harness the eyes and ears of the entire community.

In 2017, Shomrim managed to locate 28 missing persons. These include elderly people suffering from dementia, young children, and people suffering from depression and other mental health problems.
